Digital Retinal Imaging

It only takes a minute to capture an image of the back (inside) of your eye with our retinal camera.  Your doctor then reviews your retinal photo with you, so you can see exactly the state of health of the tissues.  That image is then stored for comparison on future visits.

“What do healthy eyes look like inside?”  “Am I getting the beginning of macular degeneration?” “Do I have any signs of diabetic damage to my eyes?”  “Is it worse than the last time I was in?”

This office is equipped with state-of-the-art Frequency Doubling Technology (FDT) Visual Field Analyzer.  The FDT test is safe, painless and only requires 45 seconds of your time.  It could save your eyesight.

WARNING:  Millions of people suffer from glaucoma without even knowing it.  Often referred to as the “sneak thief” of sight, many forms of glaucoma have no early signs or noticeable symptoms.

Most commonly, patients do not have any symptoms and may even have 20/20 vision, but visual field loss has already occurred by the time glaucoma is diagnosed.

Because there are no symptoms in the most common form of glaucoma, it is important to have regular eye exams that include a visual field test, especially if you have any risk factors for glaucoma.

Why is visual field testing important?

The visual field test provides a map of the field of vision.  The map shows precisely where different intensities of light are seen or not seen in the field of vision.  This test can help show whether or not blind spots are developing as a result of glaucoma or other eye disorders.
