Trenna doing zip line in Mombacho - what a thrill
We were fortunate enough to fly into Nicaragua a day early in order to meet the rest of the group. This meant we had 3/4 of a day to sightsee before meeting everyone. We flew in with Dr. Robin from Ohio, so along with our VOSH translator we has a great first day.

We also went for a boat ride through the little islands in Granada.

We were able to get very close to a monkey on one of the islands.

In the top right of the picture is an active volcano. This spot in front of it is where all the steam rises from the ground. We were told that if the ground was all covered and the sulpher and steam cound not escape the volcano would erupt.

One of the numberous holes where the steam and gases were escaping

Erin with one of the boys who made her a clay cup
Kids ran around barefoot gathing the clay to make little cups for us. Although they were barfoot, we could feel our flip flops melting from the extreme heat

The streets in Leon had a lot of Riot teams out on patrol to prevent any violence during the elections
