The Vision Team

In November, Pacific Eye Doctors helped sponsor Erin to participate in a Third World Eyecare Mission. She joined Trenna and traveled to Nicaragua with VOSH Florida (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). They travelled to the West Coast, visiting the same cities as the 2006 mission.

This was a unique mission. The vision team was accompanied by a construction team who built two homes for families in the Refugee Camp. We also visited Nicaragua during their election. This proved to be a tense time - we were not able to see as many patients this time around as people were not comfortable leaving their homes during the election. We helped everyone who showed up at the clinics, though we wished we could have helped more.

As a result of fewer patients, we had more free time than on any other mission. We visited the Refugee Camp, spent time at the beach, and toured some of the cities and markets. Thank you Sergio, our wonderful translator and personal tour guide for making this mission extra special.
