Dr Stephanie Brooks, optometristDr. Stephanie Brooks, Optometrist

Dr. Stephanie Brooks completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario (with a BA in psychology) in 1989 and received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 1993. She moved to BC from Ontario for the abundance of outdoor activities and has never regretted it.

After graduation she practised in Delta where she was president of the Fraser Valley Optometric Association and participated in the Patterns of Practice/Quality Assurance committees. Since 1997 she has been practising on the west side of Vancouver. She has written articles for vancouverwomen.com as well as the Health Journal and currently sits on the development committee for the Canadian Examiners in Optometry. She is delighted to be able to provide excellence in eyecare in such a state of the art clinic and proud to be part of the Dunbar community.


Dr Tod McNab, optometristDr. Tod McNab, Optometrist

Dr. Tod McNab is a 1981 graduate of the University Of Waterloo School Of Optometry and a recipient of their Academic Achievement Scholarship. Dr. McNab established his practice in Richmond in 1986 and has since worked hard to develop an eye care clinic that meets the general and specialized needs of that community.

 

Tod is the current co-chair of the Quality Assurance Committee for the British Columbia College of Optometrists and has been working to establish Peer Review Circles as one method of maintaining competency for the province’s optometrists. As well he sits on the Canadian Examiners in Optometry and participates in the National Board Exams question writing, review and selection process.

 

Tod has been a highly active member of the Third World Eye Care Society, a British Columbia based group of eye care professionals who provide vision care and used eyeglasses at no charge to people most in need in developing countries. He has been part of vision care projects in Romania, India, Malawi and Cambodia.

 

Tod also is the Canadian representative on Bausch &Lomb’s Global Thought Leaders Committee and meets with representatives from the different regions around the world to consult with B&L on product development and marketing.

 

Tod was named the “Optometrist of the Year” for 2009 by the British Columbia Association of Optometrists president Dr. Antoinette Dumalo, who said Dr. McNab was given the honour because of his dedication to the profession of optometry, and because of his work helping people in the world’s poorest countries regain their vision. “Throughout his career, Dr. McNab has tirelessly volunteered his skills. He is an inspiration and mentor for other optometrists.”

 

Dr. McNab is also a graduate of the Emily Carr School of Art and Design and majored in sculpture, where he received two scholarship awards. His work has been selected for both national and international shows and most recently appeared in the Artropolis art show in Vancouver. He is a fitness enthusiast and has completed 6 marathons, including Boston, Chicago and New York. Tod, the proud father of a nine-year-old girl, lives with his wife and daughter in Vancouver.


Dr Donna Mockler, optometristDr. Donna Mockler, Optometrist

Dr Mockler, optometrist, received her BSc degree (Math/Computer Science) from Dalhousie University. In 1983, she received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo where she was the recipient of the Award for Clinical Excellence. Dr Mockler has spent the past 20 years committed to maintaining the highest standard of clinical care and has teamed up with other doctors who are committed to the same vision.

Dr Mockler has had a longstanding interest in visual efficiency, exploring the relationship between vision and learning. She has established training programs in visual efficiency for many of Canada’s elite athletes and has participated in vision assessment clinics at the Barcelona & Lillehammer Olympic Games as well as organizing the eye care and sports vision services for the Victoria Commonwealth Games. Dr. Mockler also served as the Clinical Director for Canada of the Opening Eyes Program for Special Olympics.

She has chaired the Sports Vision Committee of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and has provided consultation to several other Sports Science committees.

Dr Mockler was the recipient of BC’s “Optometrist of the Year Award’ in 2002 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the profession and the community.

She has a love of nature and the outdoors and nurtures these passions through her ongoing participation in photography, adventure travel, and athletics.


Dr Conrad Vetsch, optometristDr. Conrad Vetsch, Optometrist

Dr. Vetsch, optometrist, was originally raised and educated in Calgary, Alberta and graduated with his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo, Ontario in 1983. Immediately after graduation he moved to the Lower Mainland and practiced in both Maple Ridge and Richmond until 1988. At that time he took on the ownership of the City Center Eye Care Clinic, previously the practice of Dr Roy Scott; Richmond’s original optometry practice established in 1950. In 2001 he joined forces with Drs. Mockler and McNab to form Pacific eyeDoctors® - Richmond; Richmond’s most progressive eye care facility.

Dr. Vetsch’s clinical interests involve state of the art contact lens care as well as the newest technologies in general eye care. He is considered the office ‘techie’ and enjoys working with the extensive computer systems which allow Pacific eyeDoctors® to provide the latest eye care.

Dr Vetsch is an avid athlete who enjoys skiing, windsurfing, hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking and recently competed in the grueling Cheakamus Challenge mountain bike race. He has been active in Sports vision and has participated in vision assessment clinics involving many of Canada’s elite athletes including the Alpine Ski and Snowboard teams, the National Shooting team, and the Canadian Women’s Softball teams. He participated in the eye care section of the Victoria Commonwealth Games, designing and implementing a database for compiling and evaluating the visual skills of many of the world’s best athletes.
